The Difference Between Color and Monochrome Screens

Visually, both color and monochrome screens are LCDs, similar to products with glass cover panels. However, when powered on, color screens display multiple colors, while monochrome screens display only black and white. What causes these differences?

They differ in display technology and panel structure. TFT, or thin-film transistor technology, is a key technology for color displays. Each pixel is controlled by an independent transistor, allowing each pixel's on/off state and brightness to be independently adjusted. Monochrome LCDs typically do not require individual control transistors for each pixel, instead using simpler electrodes and liquid crystal materials to adjust light transmittance.

Display technology directly determines their display quality, and color screens require independent transistor control, resulting in more complex structure and control.
