In 2003, the LCD panel industry was dominated by LCD monitors, with a market share of 52%, laptops 37%, and LCD TVs about 11%. The LCD panel industry will grow at a rate of more than 40%.
There are 15 LCD panel manufacturers in the world, with 67 production lines above the third generation. In 2004 and 2005, 9 new generation production lines will be put into production. In the next 3 years, the LCD panel industry will reach the peak of mass production. If the LCD TV market fails to meet market forecasts, LCD panels will have market pressure of oversupply.
